How to add damage to a rack

This article will show you how to add damage to a rack during an inspection. After adding the damage to your rack, a damage classification will be created.

After you start an inspection, you will firstly be taken to the Inspection Details screen and you will then navigate to the Inspection Screen where you can add damage to racks in your inspection.

If this is not the first time you have carried out an inspection for this site, damage from previous inspections can be found under the Confirm Damage header. Here, you will be required to Confirm whether the risk of the existing damage classification stays the same or whether the damage has worsened and you need to Reclassify the risk to a greater risk.

Select Rack

To add damage to a rack you must firstly select the rack name in the heading. Damage is organised by warehouse, area and then by rack.

Areas and racks are ordered alphabetically in the screens heading. You can filter down to only show the area you want to see by tapping the Areas dropdown and selecting the name of the area you want to view.

Let's say during an inspection you find damage on Rack B of the Finished Goods Area of W / House 1. The areas within W / house 1 are shown in the heading below, and the racks that belong to each area are displayed to the right. Now you can select Rack B by tapping on its name, which will turn yellow when selected.

Add damage to this rack by tapping on the blue Plus button at the bottom right corner of the screen. Select New Rack Damage from the menu and the Add Damage screen will pop up with the Warehouse, Area and Rack fields pre populated at the top of the screen.

Filling in Damage Details

Firstly, you will need to select the damage Risk by tapping on the slider and dragging it to the right choosing either Green, Amber or Red. You will then need to select the Rack Component TypeFrame or Beam by tapping on the radio button below the slider. As default, the radio button will always be on Frame. After you have done that you will then select a Location of the damage on the rack from the dropdown field.

It is optional whether you want to add a Customer ID. The Customer ID might be a number identification of a beam level used for a pallet location.

You will then select a Component from the dropdown. If for instance you choose Frame as the Rack Component, the items in the dropdown you can choose from are all components associated with a frame, i.e, upright, horizontal and diagonal bracing etc.

Level field is next and depending on what component you selected this field may get pre populated or you might need to add a value. For instance, if you chose Upright or Baseplate for the component, this field will be pre populated with N/A as there is no level associated with these components but if you choose Horizontal or Diagonal Bracing you will need to add a numeric value for the position of the damage bracing.

Just like the Level field, the Position field may be pre populated depending on what component you selected. For instance, if you choose Horizontal or Diagonal Bracing this field will be pre populated with N/A but if you choose upright, you will need to select either Front, Front & Rear or Rear.

You will then select a Defect of the damage from the dropdown field.

Action field is next and depending on the Risk you chose at the very start will determine what you can select in this dropdown. For instance, if you chose Green Risk then you will only be able to select Monitor as the Action required for any Green Risk component is Monitor.

The final field is Quantity and you will need to add a numeric value for this.

The Add Damage button will be grey until all required fields have been filled in except for the Customer ID field which is optional. Once this is done, the button will turn blue and active and you can tap to add damage. Be sure to fill all fields in as you won’t be able to add damage otherwise.

If you fill in all the fields, and before you tap Add Damage, you change your mind on the Risk you have selected, you can change the risk but all the fields that you have added will reset and you will need to add them again. The same can be said if you decide to change the Component field after filling all the fields in. If you do this all the fields after the Component field
will be reset and you will need to fill them in again.

Damage Classification

When all your fields have been filled in, tap on the blue Add Damage button to add the damage to your inspection and you will be taken back to the inspection screen where you will see your newly added damage under the Added Damage header.
